Job summary

Recover-Care Healthcare in Pittsburg, KS is seeking an Activities Assistant to help plan, organize, and facilitate recreation for patients and residents. You will work with the recreation team to tailor experiences to individual needs and life history, promoting engagement and wellbeing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Must read/write/speak English to ensure safety and wellbeing of patients and visitors.
• Must provide verification of TST (tuberculin skin test). TSTs will be administered at the work site if required.
• Prefer CNA licensure.

Responsibilities

• Promotes recreation involvement based on patient needs and interests.
• Provides input into the design of recreation services and assists in planning opportunities.
• Plan and organize daily tasks and schedule.
• Encourages social interaction through recreation opportunities.
• Facilitates recreation programs based on patient interests and life history.
• Facilitates group and individual activities across physical, cognitive, social, spiritual, creative, wellness, sensory, community, and service areas.
• Motivates and engages residents during activities.
• Facilitates activities for individuals of all cognitive and physical abilities.
• Schedules activities in a timely manner.
• Determines and provides resources and supplies to support involvement.
• Facilitates scheduled individual interventions based on needs and preferences.
• Completes assigned documentation per policy.
• Participates in care plan formulation and follow-through.
• Completes computerized documentation.
• Attends continuing education opportunities.
• Organizes, maintains and stores recreation supplies.
• Demonstrates effective communication with staff, residents, families and visitors.
• Transports residents to and from programs.
• Integrates Recover-Care Core Values into everyday behavior.
• Performs other duties as requested.
