Job summary

Samaritan Recovery Community Inc. in Nashville, TN, a nonprofit substance abuse treatment provider, seeks a Recovery Technician for full-time evening/night shifts (4:00 pm – 12:00 am or 12:00 am – 8:00 am). A High School Diploma or GED is required; an Associate degree or some college is preferred.

You will support clients, document behaviors, conduct urine screens, and assist with or conduct emergency drills as needed. First Aid/CPR certification is provided by Samaritan.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or some college preferred.
• Knowledge of 12-step recovery philosophy a plus.
• Knowledge of substance abuse/addiction issues or related work experience preferred.
• Ability to establish and maintain therapeutic boundaries.
• First Aid and CPR certification to be obtained (provided by Samaritan).

Responsibilities

• Act as a helpful listener to clients and notify on-call supervisor when intervention is needed.
• Intervene using de-escalation techniques during emergencies per agency policy.
• Communicate with staff to report information after business hours.
• Document observed and reported client behaviors and interactions.
• Follow crisis response plan in medical or psychiatric emergencies under supervision.
• Conduct urine screens as directed.
• Engage clients in recovery activities.
• Screen and monitor visitors to the agency.
• Report facility maintenance concerns.
• Check client rooms and details.
• Make status rounds every hour and document.
• Assist with or conduct emergency drills and document accordingly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Samaritan Recovery Community is a caring, long-standing nonprofit substance abuse treatment provider serving Nashville and Middle Tennessee. Located in the historic East Nashville area with spectacular views of the downtown skyline and Tennessee Titans Football stadium, Samaritan Recovery Community provides intensive residential treatment, transitional living, intensive outpatient, and outpatient services. We provide treatment services to men and women regardless of their ability to pay.

We are looking for people to join our team, who have an excitement for and are passionate about helping people as they learn how to establish a lifestyle of recovery free from substance use.

We currently have full-time positions available, 4:00 pm - 12:00 am and 12:00 am - 8:00 am. Must have High School Diploma or GED!

What will you do as a Recovery Technician?

You will -

• Act as helpful listener to clients in absence of other clinical staff and notify on-call supervisor when significant or immediate clinical intervention is needed.
• Intervene and use de-escalation techniques (non-physical intervention) as outlined by agency policy and procedures for emergency situations when needed.
• Communicate effectively with staff to report information after business hours as needed.
• Document observed and reported client behaviors and interactions.
• Follows crisis response plan in event of a medical, or psychiatric emergency (i.e. suicidal/homicidal ideation or threats) with the direction of supervisor and/or On-Call staff.
• Conduct urine screens as directed.
• Engage clients in recovery activities.
• Screen and monitor all visitors to the agency.
• Report facility maintenance concerns.
• Check client rooms and details.
• Make status rounds every hour and document.
• Assist with or conduct emergency drills and document accordingly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements:
