Job summary

Granite Recovery Centers is seeking a Full Time Recovery Support Specialist to assist residents of treatment facilities with daily observations, EMR documentation, and guidance to participate in groups and medical/clinical appointments. The role includes ensuring safety, facilitating sign-ins, and supporting crisis intervention where needed.

The position emphasizes adherence to confidentiality, strong interpersonal skills, and transportation responsibilities.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Understanding of the Agency’s mission and culture with appropriate boundaries.
  • Experience with substance abuse and co-occurring disorders preferred.
  • Background check required (UDS and criminal history).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver’s license with reliable transportation and Insurance.
  • MVR verification per policy F&A‑115.
  • Satisfactory references from employers or peers.
  • Satisfactory drug screening and background check.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain complete hourly observation checks and record location numbers.
  • Complete EMR notes during shifts.
  • Stay with the assigned patient unless necessary.
  • Ensure patients attend groups and do not leave unexcused.
  • Verify patient sign-ins and monitor group members.
  • File group sign-in sheets and originals.
  • Conduct daily room checks.
  • Perform room searches for safety reasons.
  • Bag search on new admission.
  • Review handbook and orient patient to program.
  • Daily room search for detox patients.
  • Process intakes and discharges and related paperwork.
  • Transport patients to hospital and accompany.
  • Monitor and log residential/detox calls.
  • Stock the supply closet.
  • Provide educational and support groups for patients.
  • Assist with crisis intervention and community engagement for concierge care.

Job description

Full Time – Recovery Support Specialist

This position provides support to patients of Residential Treatment Facilities throughout their treatment. The Recovery Support Specialist is responsible for daily observations of each assigned patient and the completion of all daily notes into the patient’s EMR. The Specialist helps guide the patient in appropriate behaviors, encouraging attendance at all groups, medical appointments, and clinical appointments.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain complete hourly (or specialized) observation checks on an assigned patient and ensure the proper location number is recorded in the correct time slot.
  • Complete EMR notes during the appropriate shift location in a clear and timely manner.
  • Remain with the assigned patient unless absolutely necessary.
  • Ensure patients act appropriately and respectfully during groups, and that they do not leave groups for unexcused reasons. If a patient leaves, remove their name from the attendance sheet unless they have attended the majority of the group or have an appointment.
  • Verify that patients sign into group meetings and that group members are monitored.
  • Ensure copies of group sign‑in sheets are made and given to the facilitator, and that the originals are filed in the Specialist’s office.
  • Complete daily room checks.
  • Conduct room searches when requested by the Director of operations, medical or clinical staff, or for any other safety reasons that warrant suspicion.
  • Conduct a bag search upon new admission.
  • Review the patient handbook and orient the patient to the program.
  • Perform a daily room search for detox patients.
  • Process intakes and discharges along with their paperwork.
  • Transport patients to the hospital and stay with them.
  • Monitor all residential and detox phone calls and record these calls in the call logbook.
  • Stock the supply closet.
  • Provide educational and support groups for patients.
  • RTC – Recovery Support Specialist.
  • Assist with the transport of patients to ER, outside appointments, and off‑site activities.

The Recovery Support Specialist assigned to concierge care will assist with crisis intervention and engage with the community to promote positive interactions, reduce AMA potentials, and provide additional attention to patients struggling with engagement. Services include assisting patients with attending groups, meeting appointments, joining campus activities, and removing barriers to treatment.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED.

  • Understanding of the Agency’s mission and culture with the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with staff and clients in all circumstances.
  • Previous experience working with substance abuse and co‑occurring disorders preferred.
  • Employment contingent upon clear UDS and criminal history record.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation, along with current auto liability insurance that meets or exceeds the minimum requirements set by the State.
  • Initial and ongoing MVR verification, maintaining an acceptable driving record in accordance with BayMark’s policy F&A‑115.
  • Satisfactory references from employers and/or professional peers.
  • Satisfactory drug screening and criminal background check.
