Job summary

Valley Vista in Vergennes, VT is seeking an Entry Level Recovery Specialist to implement program guidelines, ensure patient safety, and maintain a therapeutic milieu within the unit.

Responsibilities

• Assists Nursing staff while dispensing medication to patients.
• Attends meals with patients at appropriate times.
• Safely transports patients to scheduled outside appointments.
• Participates in supervision and in-service opportunities.
• Provides staff coverage and remains in service until replacement arrives.
• Conducts room checks and documents findings.
• Attends in-service programs designated by leadership.

Job Details: Level: Entry, Job Location: VV - Vergennes - Vergennes, VT, Position Type: Full Time, Salary Range: $22.00 - $24.00Hourly, Travel Percentage: Up to 25%, Job Shift: Evening, 12-hour shifts, 11:00-23:00

Summary of Position

The Recovery Specialist is a direct service provider responsible for implementing program guidelines and practice regarding patient safety, unit and individual behavioral expectations, and a therapeutic milieu within a unit patient care model. Provides care in a manner consistent with facility philosophy and practice.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Develops and maintains professional interpersonal relationships with patients at Valley Vista.
• Reviews notes and appropriate documentation on each patient on a daily basis, helping to ensure continuity and compliance with treatment planning and service delivery.
• Documents patient activity as required by Valley Vista and regulatory agencies.
• Observes patient behavior, records observations as appropriate, and reports at risk behaviors to senior staff on duty, as appropriate.
• Communicates patient behaviors/concerns to subsequent shift and unit Director when appropriate.
• Participates in change-of-shift treatment team meetings and discusses patients’ emotional/behavioral issues/concerns, and related programming needs.
• Makes oneself available for crisis intervention or unit reassignment as necessary and follows agency’s policy/procedure for crisis intervention.
• Assists Nursing staff while dispensing medication to patients.
• Attends and monitors meals with patients at the appropriate times.
• Safely transports patients to all scheduled outside appointments using company vehicles as directed.
• Participates in supervision and in-service opportunities at the direction of the Clinical Manager and/or Program Director.
• Provides staff coverage throughout the course of the shift, remaining in service until replacement arrives.
• Conducts multiple room checks in all patients’ rooms throughout the duration of shift as appropriate, and documents accordingly.
• Attends in-service programs designated by Program Director.
• Follows patient procedures designated by Program Director.
• Is current with all required trainings.

Qualifications: Qualifications Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

21 years of age or older; One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
