Job summary

Morrison Child and Family Services is seeking a Part-time Parent Mentor for relief/on-call coverage to support parents in recovery within the ODHS Child Welfare system. The role requires lived experience with addiction and active recovery, plus ability to travel across counties.

The position involves coaching, court attendance support, connecting families to resources, and collaborating with ODHS staff. A valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Personal experience with addiction issues.
• Minimum 2 years in active recovery from alcohol and other drugs.
• Personal experience of an ODHS Child Welfare case, closed for at least 1 year.
• High School Diploma or GED or high school level writing and reading skills.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to travel.
• Applicants pursuing CADC certification should note this role does not fulfill internship credit.
• Criminal history check required.

Responsibilities

• Empower and coach parents through their case with ODHS; support them at meetings and court hearings; transport to appointments; connect to resources.
• Develop trusting relationships with child welfare-involved parents; attend court/meetings as needed.
• Represent the Parent Mentor Program positively with County partners and ODHS staff.
• Communicate professionally with ODHS staff and collaborate with caseworkers to support parents’ goals.
• Engage families with culturally specific practices; participate in Parent Support Group events.
• Facilitate OSLC-KEEP sessions following training and certifications.
