Qualifications

• Certified Peer Specialist or Recovery Coach.

Responsibilities

• Provide Peer Support and/or Recovery Coaching with individuals.

Bay Cove Human Services’ mission is to partner with people to overcome challenges and realize personal potential. Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and **Southeastern Massachusetts**.

Job Summary:

The Recovery Navigator in the Bay Cove Behavioral Health and Wellness Center on Cape Cod will assist with clients (14+ years) to overcome barriers and stigma and by assisting them to understand and participate in their medical and behavioral health system of care. This position contributes to Bay Cove’s mission by working in a program providing access to services that address the needs of community members most impacted by deleterious social determinants of health. This is a non-exempt position.

Essential Functions of the Position:

• Provide Peer Support and/or Recovery Coaching to individuals (youth and adults) by engaging in non-judgemental, compassionate, active listening to build one-to-one connections through the intentional sharing of one’s own personal experiences with the purpose of building trust and enhancing the development of partnerships with individuals.
• Conduct sessions focused on enhancing wellness, resiliency, and recovery, including goal-setting, community living skills, and strategies for managing psychiatric symptoms, trauma, and substance use disorders.
• Serve as an advocate for individuals to ensure they receive the care they are looking for by guiding them through various service systems, facilitating productive communication with their healthcare providers and human service agencies, and working to identify and dismantle barriers to access.
• Develop a person driven plan in collaboration with the individual and document the plan in the person's electronic health record
• Drive referrals regarding connections to any community or social services that align with the member’s needs and goals
• Other responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor

Requirements for the Position:

• Peer Specialist certification and/or Recovery Coach certification required
• A High School diploma or GED plus two years direct care experience providing services to adults, youth and families with behavioral health issues or related populations
• Lived experience with receiving behavioral health services and the willingness to share these experiences in the service of assisting clients with their goals
• Experience in working with the target population of the Bay Cove Behavioral Health and Wellness Center; uninsured and underinsured individuals with serious behavioral health challenges and/or substance use disorders
• Professional writing and oral communications skills.
• Possesses knowledge of substance abuse assessment, recovery principles
• High degree of personal organization, attention to detail, and time management skills.
• Proficiency in word processing and other computer functions using Windows, Word, and Google Email and Apps.
• Use of personal cellular telephone for work communication.
