Job summary

Charlotte Hungerford Hospital, part of Hartford HealthCare, in Torrington, CT, is seeking a Recreation Therapist to support the IP Psychiatry care team and deliver recovery-based recreation activities for patients.

You will assess, plan, implement, and document therapy interventions for adults and children with behavioral health needs, while training staff and contributing to quality and safety initiatives. This role emphasizes patient-centered, evidence-based recreation services.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or related program.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Therapy or related field; NCTRC preferred.
  • Two+ years of child/adolescent experience.
  • NCTRC certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements recovery-based recreation therapy interventions and activities that support patient care plans.
  • Completes recreation therapy assessments meeting guidelines with participating patients.
  • Documents services to meet licensing, third-party and internal requirements.
  • Develops and monitors weekday, weekend and holiday recreation therapy activities; trains staff involved in activities.
