Job summary

Stars Behavioral Health Group in Orange, CA is seeking a Recovery Counselor to join the Coastal Star Crisis Residential Central team. The role provides direct care to adults with psychiatric crisis, supports self-help skills, and works under supervision to promote safety and recovery.

Qualifications include 15 semester units in psychology or related fields and at least 6 months of relevant experience; a California driver's license is required.

Qualifications

  • 15 semester units (or 24 quarter units) in psychology, sociology, or related behavioral sciences from an accredited college.
  • Six (6) months of full-time experience performing non-professional, consumer-directed services within a mental health, healthcare, or social services organization.
  • A valid California Driver’s License with an eligible driving record per company policy (Class “B” license preferred).
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification is a plus (optional).

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct care to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of clients.
  • Promote self-help skills in eating, hygiene, grooming and daily activities.
  • Encourage client interactions and socialization, and provide feedback on behavior.
  • Transport clients in facility vehicles and assist with groups and outings under supervision.

Duties are performed under direct supervision of the Program Coordinator, but some tasks are accomplished independently. Job duties include promoting and assisting clients with self-help skills in the areas of eating, hygiene and grooming, and other activities or nursing activities. Encouraging client interactions and socialization with other peers, providing feedback to clients on appropriate behavior while acting as a role model. Transporting clients in facility vehicles as directed.
