FCC Behavioral Health in Piedmont, MO is seeking a Peer Specialist to support individuals with psychiatric disabilities by building information networks and recovery tools. You will share lived experience to promote recovery and assist with linking clients to resources and services.

The role focuses on coaching daily living skills, accompanying clients to appointments, and coordinating with community resources while documenting progress and upholding confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must self-identify as present and/or former person(s)-served of mental health services (lived experience).
  • Must complete a State approved training program and pass a standardized examination.
  • Meet minimum requirements to be clinically privileged by FCC Behavioral Health.

Responsibilities

  • Provides individual assistance to person(s)-served in assessing mental health services.
  • Acts as liaison between person(s)-served and community resources.
  • Training, coaching and supporting in daily living skills.
  • Accompanying person(s)-served to activities in the community, if appropriate.
  • Following-up with person(s)-served regarding appointments and forms.
  • Maintains professional competencies through in-service training and other educational responsibilities.
  • Development of self-help groups outside the agency.
  • Helping individuals develop skills and resources that foster success; document progress using PIRP format.
  • Accurate and timely completion of group counseling and education logs.
  • Ability to effectively utilize computer systems currently employed by FCC.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethics and policies.
  • Maintain records of person(s)-served as outlined in policies.
  • Maintain acceptable attendance and cover shifts with supervisor.
  • Exhibit professional appearance, attitude and demeanor.
  • Demonstrate initiative and a can do attitude.
  • Other job duties and special projects as assigned
