Job summary

The Elizabeth Layton Center in Paola, KS seeks a qualified Peer Support Specialist to join the ACT team. This role centers on recovery-focused, consumer-driven support in community settings, helping adults engage in treatment and build skills for independent living.

You will work within a collaborative, inclusive environment, providing face-to-face supports, documenting progress, and coordinating with clinicians and staff to promote recovery and wellness.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ years old and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification in the State of Kansas to provide the service (including background checks, and completion of a state approved basic training).
• The provider must self-identify as a present or former primary consumer of mental health services.

Responsibilities

• Help consumers build a network for information and support from others who have been through similar experiences.
• Encourage independent choices and discuss treatment with treating clinicians.
• Identify and respond to triggers that result in functional impairments.
• Collaborate with staff and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings.
• Meet daily paperwork deadlines.
• Provide quality documentation.
• Perform duties as assigned by supervisor or designee.
• Complete required trainings.
• Follow ELC policies and procedures.
