Job Summary

The responsibilities include entering patient information into our software program. It will involve accessing various electronic medical records systems. We are looking for a candidate who can type 50+ words per minute with accuracy and provide our customers with the highest quality product and customer service. Must always safeguard and protect the patient's right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient's medical information and that all releases of information comply with requests, authorization, company policy, and HIPAA regulations.

Essential Job Functions

  • Accurately entering patient information into our software program
  • Access various electronic medical records systems
  • Provide a high level of customer service

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for long periods
  • Physical ability to lift and carry 25 lbs. of materials
  • Manual dexterity and strength to enter information via keyboard for extended periods, write notes, and handle paperwork and supplies
  • Sufficient eyesight to read documents and view a computer monitor effectively
  • Effective speaking and hearing abilities for communication
  • Eye/hand coordination, hearing, and visual acuity for daily tasks

Information Governance Accountabilities

  • Understand the organization’s information governance program and your role-specific responsibilities
  • Comprehend role requirements, including policies, procedures, and processes, and how your work impacts the organization’s data integrity and strategic goals
  • Discuss questions and recommendations to ensure standardized work and service quality
  • Participate in required education for compliance and role-specific tasks

HIPAA/Compliance

  • Maintain confidentiality of patient, employee, and volunteer information; access only on a need-to-know basis
  • Comply with regulations regarding corporate integrity and security
  • Report unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful activities
  • Maintain current HIPAA certification annually

Qualifications

  • Experience in a medical records environment is helpful but not required; training provided
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Typing speed of 50+ words per minute
  • Focus on high-quality work
  • Self-motivated, reliable, detail-oriented, and a team player
  • Excellent organizational skills
