Job summary

Watterson Restoration & Facility Solutions is seeking a Reconstruction Technician to restore residential and commercial properties damaged by fire, water, mold, and storms. You will handle drywall repairs, carpentry, plumbing, and flooring installation, while supporting mitigation teams in water, fire, and mold remediation.

The role requires basic construction skills, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2+ years’ experience in construction/handyman services, required.
• Valid Driver’s license in good standing without restrictions.
• Familiarity with mitigation processes for water, fire, and mold damage, preferred.
• Certifications such as OSHA, IICRC, etc., preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic drywall repairs, including patching, taping, and applying standard finishes.
• Conduct minor carpentry and cabinetry repairs to restore damaged structures.
• Execute basic plumbing tasks, such as fixing leaks or replacing fixtures.
• Install and repair flooring materials in affected areas.
• Restore properties to pre-loss condition following fire, water, mold, or storm damage (turnkey restoration).
• Assist mitigation technicians with water extraction, fire damage cleanup, and mold remediation efforts.
• Ensure all work complies with safety standards and building codes.
• Operate company vehicles, as necessary.
• Complete other duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform basic drywall repairs, including patching, taping, and applying standard finishes.
• Conduct minor carpentry and cabinetry repairs to restore damaged structures.
• Execute basic plumbing tasks, such as fixing leaks or replacing fixtures, as needed.
• Install and repair flooring materials in affected areas.

• Reachable by phone during waiting to be engaged periods, but otherwise free to use your time for personal activities unless contacted to report for duty.

• Strong knowledge of building materials used in residential and commercial properties.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.

• Ability to lift, carry, and move equipment, materials, and debris weighing up to 75 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and perform physical labor for extended periods.
• Comfortable working in confined spaces, attics, crawl spaces, and other challenging environments.
• Ability to work around water, mold, fire, smoke, and other property damage conditions while wearing required PPE.
• Ability to operate mitigation equipment and safely handle tools and materials used in restoration work.
• Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions and job-site environments.
• Ability to travel to customer locations and respond to emergency service calls as needed.

Driver’s License Requirement: A valid driver’s license is required because this position regularly operates Company vehicles to travel to assigned job sites and other work locations. Company vehicles may be assigned to and stored at an employee’s residence when off duty to support timely deployment to assigned locations.
