Job description

The Reconstruction Estimator is responsible for managing a wide range of functions necessary to successfully obtain, bid, and price construction projects. They are responsible for ensuring an accurate scope of work is created, delivering a consistent and complete estimate, and maintaining a high quality of service in all dealings with customers, clients, Adjusters, Consultants, and resource providers involved in construction services.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities

1. Customer Satisfaction
2. Educate customers on the construction process.
3. Work with customers to understand desired upgrades/changes.
4. Ensure that estimates meet customer and insurance requirements.
5. Prepare the file to go into production.

1. Project Initiation
2. Analyze labor, material, and time requirements for a project.
3. Create an accurate sketch and initial scope of work for construction projects.
4. Deliver a consistent and well-defined initial estimate.
5. Recognize project constraints and/or needed upgrades.
6. Work with Project Managers to price bid items, supplements, and change orders if needed.

1. Project Planning
2. Identify and document finalized project scope of work.
3. Work with outside resources as necessary to support work cycle (e.g., Structural Engineers, ITEL, Electrical Inspectors).
4. Assemble accurate and well-organized estimates, supplements, and change orders.
5. Deliver and communicate estimate to the adjuster assigned to the claim.
6. Provide the contract to the insured for execution once the adjuster approves the submitted estimate.
7. Ensure all executed documents are collected so the project can enter the production cycle.
8. Assist with any supplements needed during the production cycle.

1. Additional Support
2. Support the estimating department by helping write mitigation estimates, as needed.
3. Provide peer reviews for other estimators in mitigation and construction capacity.
4. Help with monthly training on industry knowledge to educate the team and foster teamwork.
5. Assist in first response during inundation periods within the company.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

Walking and/or standing throughout the day, frequent driving, sitting, and occasional ladder climbing. Exposure to extreme conditions such as heat. Loud noise levels at individual jobsites.
