Zusammenfassung

DREAM is seeking a dynamic individual to serve as a Recess Coach at our elementary and middle schools in East Harlem. You will oversee groups of 18-20 youth during recess, plan indoor and outdoor activities, and promote healthy, active play in a supportive environment.

This part-time role runs Monday through Thursday, 10:30am–1:30pm during the school year, with a start date of August 10, 2026 and end date June 17, 2027.

Qualifikationen

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Familiarity with a sport or physical activity as a participant or coach.
• Willing to work outdoors in varying weather.
• Minimum of 1 year working with groups of 20 school-age children.
• Strong understanding of athletics, health and student wellbeing.
• Strong verbal and written communication with students, administrators, and staff.
• Experience with behavior management systems, including positive youth development, preferred.

Aufgaben

• Oversee a group of up to 18-20 youth during their recess time (grades K-8).
• Plan indoor and outdoor activities.
• Collaborate with team to facilitate various outdoor activities promoting moderate to vigorous physical activity.
• Model and encourage positive participation in recess activities.
• Model professionalism through consistent attendance, timeliness and preparation.
• Supervise and manage youth behavior at all times using positive youth development strategies, including tracking incidents, and coordinating with supervisor and other staff as needed to implement.
• Implement all health and safety protocols as required.
