Virginia Cancer Specialists, an affiliate of US Oncology, is seeking a Full Time Receptionist for our Arlington office. The role requires greeting patients, handling front-desk duties, and coordinating with medical staff to ensure smooth patient flow.

Ideal candidates will be organized, self-motivated, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced medical office. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, paid holidays, and a 401(k).

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Entry level role; 1–3 years experience preferred in medical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and visitors courteously and serve as liaison between patient and medical staff.
  • Collect demographic and insurance information and copies of insurance cards and IDs.
  • Register new patients and prepare charts; notify nursing staff of arrivals.
  • Answer multiple phone lines and manage front desk inquiries.
  • Collect co-pays and other payments; issue receipts.
  • Maintain lobby area in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Ensure patient confidentiality and follow clinic policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Responsibilities

This position requires a detail-oriented, multi-tasking professional with strong customer service and computer skills. Successful candidates will have a track record of initiative, continuous learning, teamwork, and integrity in a medical office environment.



Essential Duties And Responsibilities


  • Greets patients and visitors into the clinic in a prompt, courteous and professional manner. Obtains all appropriate forms as required.

  • Obtains demographic and insurance information. Obtains copy of patient's insurance cards and current driver's license for file. Updates demographic and insurance information as needed in the system.

  • Registers all new patients into the system. Prepares and organizes new patient charts. Notifies nursing staff of patient arrivals, placing charts in appointment order. Assists in preparing charts for next day appointments and prints schedules as needed.

  • Answering multiple phone lines

  • Collects co-pays, deductible and other out of pocket amounts at time of visit. Issues receipts if necessary.

  • Posting Daily charges

  • Distributes condolence cards to patients families as requested.

  • Maintains lobby area in a neat and orderly manner.

  • Identifies no shows and forwards for patient notification.

  • Demonstrates an understanding of patient confidentiality to protect the patient and clinic/corporation.

  • Follows policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the front office. Covers for other front office functions as requested.

  • Prepares correspondence, memos, forms and other typing as requested by supervisor.

  • Perform other duties as assigned



Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


High school diploma or equivalent required. Position is entry level and requires 1-3 years experience, preferably in a medical setting.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Work may require sitting for long periods of time; also stooping, bending and stretching for files and supplies. Occasionally lifting files or paper weighing up to 30 pounds. Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, operate a calculator, telephone, copier and other such office equipment. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts. It is necessary to view and type on computer screens for prolonged periods of time.
