Job description

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

On delivery, a 20,000 to 30,000 lb. master coil arrives on a flatbed trailer that is delivered inside the plant at the coil receiving dock. The coil is unloaded with a 30T overhead electric crane by the utility person and visually inspected for defects. If the coil is covered with plastic the utility person will remove the plastic wrap by using a knife. They will cut the plastic and then pull the wrap off the master coil and dispose in the trash hopper. This motion requires around 25lbs of force to completely remove the plastic from the coil. The utility person verifies that the master coil number on the receiving paperwork matches the number on the coil. The utility person unloads around 25 master coils per day.

The receiver will step on and off the truck to apply the C-Hook to the master coil. The C Hook weighs 1200lbs and the utility person will guide the C-Hook into the center of the master coil by hand. After applying the C Hook into the center of the master coil the utility person will use the crane remote pendant to pick the master coil off the trailer and deliver to the coil bay for storage. Frequently throughout the day the utility person will have to rotate the mater coil by hand. This action requires the utility person to place both hands on the coil and gradually push the coil to rotate 180 degrees.

The utility person is responsible for staging master coils onto the coil cart platform for the Slitter. The coil cart platform should remain full of 3 coils while the Slitter is in operation.

The utility person is responsible for delivering the slit coils from the slitter horn to the 4 Operating Mills throughout the day. The Slit Coils are delivered to the Mills with the overhead crane and placed in a storage rack located on the floor. The Utility person will apply pressure to the closed side of the C Hook to slightly lean the coils against the rack. The utility person applies a moderate amount of force to lean the clit coils into the storage rack.

The Utility person is responsible for reading the tags, documenting the master coil locations and turning in the paperwork to the Quality Manager daily.
