Job summary

Vallarta Supermarkets in Pasadena, CA is seeking a Receiving Manager to oversee all receiving operations, ensuring policy compliance and an organized warehouse. You will train and supervise receivers, manage inventory, coordinate with vendors, and uphold safety standards while modeling Vallarta’s values of service, integrity, and teamwork.

You’ll lead a fast-paced team, maintain accurate merchandise control, and drive continuous improvement in inbound/outbound processes to support store

Responsibilities

• Greet customers and team members, modeling Vallarta’s six steps of extraordinary service.
• Ensure compliance with receiving policies, procedures, and security protocols.
• Train, supervise, and evaluate receivers and warehouse staff.
• Maintain accurate accountability of inbound and outbound merchandise.
• Safely unload merchandise and transport to stock areas using equipment.
• Review invoices and transfers; report discrepancies to relevant managers.
• Inspect received products and report discrepancies or quality concerns.
• Ensure perishable merchandise is rotated and out-of-code product is removed.
• Control shrinkage, pilferage, and department expenses.
• Maintain an organized, safe, and clean warehouse and dock area.
• Ensure transportation containers are returned to designated areas.
• Support quarterly inventory audits and daily inventory control.
• Handle damaged/distressed merchandise per policy.
• Ensure powered equipment is used safely and not on the sales floor.
• Comply with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
• Report unsafe acts or conditions to management immediately.
• Ensure break policies are followed and duties performed as assigned.

About the Role

The Receiving Manageris responsible foroverseeing all receiving operations, ensuring compliance with company policies whilemaintainingan organized warehouse. This role supervises, trains, and supports team members to achieveaccurateaccountabilitiesforall inbound and outbound merchandise. The Receiving Manageralso manages vendor relations, inventory control, and ensures compliance with safety and sanitation standards while modeling Vallarta’s core values: customer service, commitment, integrity, respect, humility, and teamwork.

What You’ll Do

Greet customers and team members, modeling Vallarta’s six steps of extraordinary service.

Ensure compliance with Vallarta’s receiving policies, procedures, and security protocols.

Train, supervise, and evaluate receivers and warehouse staff.

Maintainaccurateaccountabilityofall inbound and outbound merchandise, including containers.

Safely unload merchandise and transport to stock areas using equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts.

Physical Requirements

Stand and walk constantly (6–8 hours/day).

Frequent bending, squatting, twisting, and reaching above/below shoulders.

Frequent use of hands for grasping, pushing/pulling, and fine manipulation.

Lift and carry up to 25 lbs.frequentlyand up to 50 lbs. occasionally (longest distance: 12 feet).

Use of pallet jacks, forklifts, and related warehouse equipment.

Worknear equipment and machinery.

Exposure todust, gas, fumes, noise, and varying temperatures/humidity.

May berequiredto perform tasks at elevated levels (placing or retrieving items).

WhatWe’reLooking For

Knowledge of grocery warehouse operations, receiving, and vendor processes.

Ability to handle equipment such as dollies, pallet jacks, forklifts, ladders, and box cutters.

Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Basic computerproficiency(BR Data, Word, Outlook).

Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.

Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Fast-paced supermarket warehouse and dock area.

Exposure toperishable and non-perishable grocery products.
