Job summary

Salary Range: $60,000.00 – $60,000.00 per year

The Receiving Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating the receipt and storage of products and materials within the organization. This management position also directs and manages the warehouse, including secondary oversight of maintenance, quality assurance, and proper GMP food safety handling. The Manager ensures timely and accurate tracking of inventory through the inventory management system and manages a balance of operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, customer satisfaction, and growth.

Essential Job Functions

1. Ensures all deliveries meet or exceed company quality standards and comply with GMP and food safety regulations.
2. Ensures timely and accurate tracking of inventory through the inventory management system.
3. Supervises product readiness for shipping, verifies Purchase Order and ticketing information, and ensures the warehouse is appropriately stocked in accordance with Company guidelines.
4. Communicates with Purchasing and Sales staff regarding product shortages, overages, and quality concerns.
5. Maintains orderly, clean receiving and cooler areas and ensures warehouse compliance with external audit standards.
6. Conducts efficient slot moves and oversees stock rotation to assure quality product availability for shipping and minimize waste.
7. Assesses effectiveness and productivity of receiving staff through ongoing communication and performance management.
8. Trains and oversees new Warehouse Receivers.
9. Performs other related duties as required.

Working Conditions / Job Environment

• Physical demands: Strength requirements to lift 50‑60 lbs regularly; repeated stooping, bending, and lifting of boxed/bagged produce; continuous standing; operation of motorized pallet jacks and Crown forklifts; loading/unloading produce from tractor trailers.
• Environmental conditions: Warehouse temperatures of 36‑40°F, damp conditions for 8‑10 hours daily; occasional work outside in adverse weather; moderately noisy environment.

Minimum Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience: Three years of warehouse receiving experience; two years of supervisory experience in a warehouse environment.
• Knowledge: Thorough product knowledge, including acceptable substitutes; warehouse receiving and storage processes and procedures; produce types and judgment of product quality; basic inventory control and Microsoft Office skills.
• Skills and Abilities: Ability to supervise receiving supervisors and employees across shifts; strong organizational and multitasking skills; self‑starter, assertive decision maker, forward thinker, problem solver; ability to operate stand‑up and sit‑down forklifts; safe handling of cases onto warehouse shelves; reading put‑away reports and matching slot locations; basic math; strong verbal and written communication.

Preferred Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience: Five years of warehouse receiving experience; four years of supervisory experience in a warehouse environment.
• Knowledge: Advanced knowledge of warehouse receiving and storage processes and procedures; advanced product judgment of produce types; comprehensive understanding of Keany Produce policies and procedures; knowledge of Virginia Workers’ Compensation law.
• Skills and Abilities: Forklift Operator’s License.
