Job summary

Giant Eagle is seeking a Receiving Lead to organize, control and maintain efficient backroom/receiving operations, aiming to minimize costs, enforce safety, and deliver outstanding service to internal and external customers. You’ll guide the team through stocking, ordering and inventory, and you’re a true team player dedicated to helping others succeed.

This role requires a proactive mindset, hands-on leadership, and the ability to inspire the team while upholding food safety and OSHA standards

Qualifications

• Experience required: 6 months to 1 year.
• Desire to become a Non-Union Team Leader.
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
• Certification or Licensing Preferred: DSD Certification
• Lifting Requirement: Up to 50 pounds
• Age Requirement: At least 18 years of age

Responsibilities

• Support a culture of safety including food, team member, and customer safety.
• Handle DSD vendor deliveries and returns per procedures and maintain documentation.
• Keep backroom/receiving area clean and organized.
• Ensure safe and secure receiving area meets health and OSHA standards.
• Ensure third-party deliveries are received according to DSD procedures.
• Perform vendor spot checks and maintain signature logs.
• Notify departments about perishable deliveries to maintain cold chain.
• Document pricing discrepancies, damaged products, and vendor non-compliance.
• Manage area outside receiving to prevent obstructions and maintain efficiency.
• Maintain equipment (DEX, DSD system, power jacks) and report issues.
• Run paper baler to make bales.
• Dispose of trash using the automatic compactor.
• Organize flats/backroom for evening crew
