Job summary

Tony's Fresh Market in Chicago is hiring a Receiver to handle the receiving of produce, inspect shipments, and stock shelves as needed. You will use handheld scanners, work with the warehouse team, and ensure quality and accurate delivery.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma, at least one year of receiving experience, and forklift certification or the ability to obtain it. The role includes physical duties and opportunity to grow with our team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year experience working receiving.
• Grocery retail background preferred.
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Greet and build rapport with vendors.
• Display a friendly and outgoing attitude through good eye contact and body language.
• Respond to employees'/customers' questions in an effective manner.
• Receive shipments, examine and inspect all products for quality.
• Fill orders by stocking items from the warehouse and stock shelves as needed with product from the warehouse.
• Work with management team to coordinate and facilitate shipment placement.
• Document all overages, damages, and shortage.
• Communicate with truck delivery drivers on specific location for proper and safe delivery. Processing returns/credits for incorrect or unsatisfactory items.
• Basic department cleaning upkeep.
• Use handheld technology for scanning items.
• Follow safety and sanitation procedures to ensure quality service and products for our customers.
• Operate power equipment to move heavy material like fork trucks and/or pallet jacks. Baler use may be required but only if you are 18 years of age or older with the proper training.
• Respond promptly and courteously to customer needs.
• May perform other duties as assigned or required.
