PRIMARY FUNCTION:

A Receiver plays an integral role within Supply & Chain materials operations at Union Christiana hospital. The receiver ensures the smooth and efficient handling of goods as they arrive on site. The receiver is responsible for receiving products in an accurate and timely manner. The receiver will coordinate deliveries using Workday applications. The receiver maintains a clean and organize dock. The receiver is essential when conducting quality checks to ensure the integrity of products.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Receiving and inspecting incoming product
• Unload incoming shipments from trucks or other delivery vehicles, ensuring careful handling of goods.
• Inspect delivered items for damage, accuracy, and completeness against purchase orders and packing slips.
• Ships and handles hazardous materials in accordance with Hazardous Materials Regulations (HMR).
• Keeps and maintains a work area clean of trash and debris daily.
• Inventory Management
• Utilizing materials software such as Workday, to accurately record order issues along with quality of goods.
• Allocate received goods to their designated storage locations within the hospital.
• Ensures all discrepancies are recorded on packing slip and notes are entered on receiving document line in Workday & Meditech computer system.
• Operational skills
• Safely and efficiently navigate the hospital using power pallet jack.
• Perform daily safety checks within the materials area.
• May have to assist in inventory preparations and completion. Inspects shipment for damages, spoilage, and expiration dates.
• Loads carts/pallets going to; unload carts/pallets coming from hospitals as needed.
• Tags or marks items for delivery to proper location and destination.
• Learns all procedures necessary for proper operation of lift, pallet jacks, dock levelers, forklift, etc.
• Documentation and Record keeping
• Maintain accurate records of received items.
• Ensure accurate quantities of products were received.
• Compare product receive to packing slip.
• Quality Control
• Verify shipments to ensure that the quantities and product details match what was ordered.
• Handle discrepancies through communication with the purchasing departments
• Collaborate with procurement staff to resolve discrepancies with deliveries or order issues.
• E-mails purchasing with problems regarding nonstock items, damaged goods, or discrepancies.
• Customer Service
• Identifies and documents follow up regarding problems and returns by e-mail.
• Processes items for return in a timely manner.
• Works productively and performs assigned work safely, adhering to established departmental safety rules and practices. Reports to supervisor, in a timely manner any unsafe activities, conditions, hazards, or safety violations that may cause injury to oneself, other employees, patients and visitors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

• High school graduate
• One year of relevant work experience in Material Management.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL, AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:

• Knowledge of computer basics.
• Skill in oral and written communication.
• Skill in problem solving analysis.
• Ability to work independent with supervision guidance.
• Ability to read and write legibly.
• Ability to do basic numerical calculations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Standing for long periods, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and bending. Physical and mental stress associated with driving and dealing with the general public, staff, and other motorists

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Frequent exposure to hot and cold conditions, dirt, debris, and noise.

This position has a starting rate of $19.90 per hour, regardless of prior experience. After six months of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $23.32 per hour. After one year of continuous employment, the hourly rate will automatically increase to $24.45This pay rate/range represents ChristianaCare's good faith and reasonable estimate of compensation at the time of posting. The actual salary within this range offered to a successful candidate will depend on individual factors including without limitation skills, relevant experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements.
