Job summary

White Cap is seeking a production-focused individual to manufacture customized rebar products in accordance with work orders and customer specifications. This hands-on role involves operating rebar fabrication equipment, handling materials, and preparing finished products for shipment in an industrial setting.

The ideal candidate will have a HS Diploma or GED with 0-2 years of related experience, the ability to read blueprints, and proficiency with measuring tools.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in the area of responsibility.
• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, work orders, and fabrication specifications.
• Proficiency using measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools.

Responsibilities

• Fabricates reinforcing steel (rebar) products according to work orders and rebar tag specifications, including bar size, bends, quantities, and dimensions.
• Sets up and safely operates rebar fabrication equipment, such as shears, benders, and automated bending machines.
• Stacks, bands, and stages, and organizes fabricated materials in accordance with production flow and supervisor direction.
• Inspects finished materials visually and through standard measurements to ensure accuracy and conformance to specifications.
• Identifies defects or issues and makes necessary adjustments according to established processes.
• Prepares completed products for shipment using appropriate protective materials (bracing, padding, strapping) to prevent damage during transport.
• Maintains a clean, safe, and organized work area, ensuring proper storage of tools and materials. Adheres to all company safety policies and procedures, participates in required safety training, and promptly reports hazards or safety concerns.
• Performs work both indoors and outdoors, as required, and may be exposed to varying weather conditions depending on the facility.

Nature and Scope

• Selects correct processes from clearly prescribed rules, past practices, or instruction. Seeks advice and guidance on non-routine or problem areas from supervisor. Deviations from the norm are cleared by the supervisor.
• Under close supervision, exercises limited latitude/independent judgment. Work typically involves detailed checks or close review of output by a senior coworker and/or supervisor.
• None.

Work Environment

• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds in a physical environment. Ability to stand for periods of time up to and exceeding 60 minutes. Ability to make repetitive movements, such as using a 10‑key or calculator, bending, or squatting.
• Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
• Performs duties in an outdoor environment with regular exposure to temperature extremes, mechanical equipment, high noise levels, and airborne particulates, necessitating compliance with established safety standards and procedures.

Education And Experience

• HS Diploma or GED strongly preferred.
• 0-2 years of experience in area of responsibility.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience reading and interpreting blueprints, shop drawings, work orders, and fabrication specifications
• Proficiency using measuring instruments such as tape measures, calipers, gauges, and other inspection tools to verify product quality
• Experience with fabrication equipment and hand tools in a manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment
• Knowledge of construction, industrial, or building material products and their applications
• Ability to safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment; certification preferred
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain quality standards, identify discrepancies, and ensure accurate order fulfillment
• Demonstrated ability to train, mentor, or provide guidance to less experienced associates
• Bilingual (Spanish/English) proficiency is a plus
