Job summary

Commercial Metals Company in Houston seeks a production associate to operate rebar fabrication equipment and support loading/unloading stock materials. You will follow established procedures, maintain a safe, clean work area, and participate in safety programs to protect yourself and teammates.

We value the ability to read technical documents, work outdoors under various weather conditions, and willingness to train on equipment. A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operate rebar fabrication equipment per procedures.

What You'll Do

• Operate rebar fabrication equipment, such as shears, benders, cranes, forklift, threaders, forging, welders, etc.
• Operate production machines in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
• Participates in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively upholds the CMC Safety Culture
• Attend training regarding applicable equipment
• Assist in loading fabricated rebar on trailers and unloading stock material from trailers
• Maintain the work area and equipment in a clean orderly condition
• Perform additional duties as needed

What You'll Need

• Minimum 1 year working with heavy industrial environment experience preferred but not required
• Ability to operate fabrication machines in a safe manner without supervision
• Must be able to read technical documents and service manuals
• Able and willing to cross train as required
• Possess knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the industrial field
• Ability to perform measurements with tape measures/calipers, etc
• Ability to use and understand basic linear measurements (i.e. feet, inches, decimals, and metric system)
• Must be able to work outside under all weather conditions to include working in the heat and cold weather
• Follow OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies, rules, and regulations
• Possess a strong work ethic and practice safe working habits
• Able to work overtime as business requires
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb ladders and steps, work outside under all weather conditions when needed
• Stand for long periods of time
• Excellent communication skills, in both written and verbal form are necessary to be successful in this role

Your Education

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience preferred
