Job summary

Rocky Mountain Building Solutions in Colorado is seeking a Rebar Detailer to create accurate shop drawings and material schedules from construction documents. This role translates architectural and structural plans into detailed rebar layouts, ensuring compliance with codes and project specs.

In this full-time, remote role, you’ll collaborate with customers, engineers, and field teams, manage multiple drawings, perform takeoffs, and support fabrication planning.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans and drawings (architectural, structural, civil).
  • Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD, RebarCAD, Tekla, or similar).
  • Strong customer service orientation and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (Microsoft Office, email, etc.).
  • Basic to intermediate math for measurements and material calculations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret architectural, structural, and civil drawings to determine rebar requirements and placement.
  • Produce detailed rebar shop drawings, placing drawings, and bar bending schedules using CAD software.
  • Generate accurate material take-offs, cut lists, and fabrication details for production.
  • Ensure all drawings comply with project specifications, engineering standards, and codes (ACI, ASTM, CRSI, etc.).
  • Coordinate with customers, engineers, contractors, and internal teams to resolve design questions.
  • Revise and update drawings based on project changes and field feedback.
  • Communicate project updates, clarifications, and timelines via phone and email.
  • Support scheduling and coordination of material fabrication and delivery.
  • Identify potential design or constructability issues and propose practical solutions.
  • Maintain organized project documentation and timely completion of deliverables.

Position Summary

The Rebar Detailer is responsible for creating accurate, detailed rebar shop drawings and material schedules based on construction documents. This role plays a critical part in ensuring projects are fabricated, delivered, and installed efficiently while meeting engineering specifications, codes, and customer expectations.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical drafting skills with excellent communication and customer service, supporting contractors, project managers, and internal teams throughout the lifecycle of a project.

Key Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of rebar placement practices, detailing standards, and fabrication processes
  • Familiarity with concrete accessories and construction materials
  • Understanding of construction workflows, scheduling, and coordination
  • Experience with quantity takeoffs, bar lists, and bending schedules
  • Background in construction, drafting, or structural design
