Job summary

Bodwé Group Companies in Lenexa, KS is seeking a Reassembly Specialist to support the Department of the Interior's BTFA at the American Indian Records Repository. You will move, organize, and re-shelve boxed federal records following BTFA SOPs and documented workflows, ensuring accurate routing, inventory accuracy, and compliance with federal records management.

This full-time onsite role requires lifting up to 50 lbs, using barcode scanners and pallet jacks, and occasional site travel.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of related experience in records management, warehouse ops, or similar.

Responsibilities

Position Summary
We are seeking a Reassembly Specialist to support the Department of the Interior (DOI) Bureau of Trust Funds Administration’s (BTFA) at the American Indian Records Repository (AIRR) in Lenexa, KS. This role is responsible for moving, organizing, and re-shelving boxed federal records while following all BTFA procedures. The Reassembly Specialist ensures accurate routing and handling of records, supports efficient workflow, and maintains compliance with established SOPs and federal records management requirements.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
The following inexhaustive list of duties represents a sample of work routinely performed by this role:

  • Perform all reassembly tasks in accordance with established BTFA Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and documented reassembly workflows.
  • Move boxes throughout the AIRR facility, including safely lifting boxes up to 50 lbs. overhead.
  • Shelf boxes accurately to maintain proper organization and workflow continuity.
  • Use government‑furnished equipment, including handheld barcode scanners, to track box movement and maintain accurate inventory.
  • Operate manual and electronic pallet jacks to move materials efficiently and safely.
  • Transport carts containing up to 20 boxes throughout AIRR while ensuring proper routing, handling, and record integrity.
Education, Experience, And Technical Skills
Required Education, Experience, and Technical Skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year of related experience. Related experience may include work in records management, warehouse operations, logistics support, or any environment requiring: physical handling and movement of boxes or materials, barcode scanning, shelving, and ability to follow step‑by‑step procedures
  • Ability to safely lift and move boxes up to 50 lbs. and operate material-handling equipment
  • Ability to obtain and maintain language a moderate public trust adjudication.
Working Environment
This position primarily operates in a professional office setting with standard office equipment and a quiet, climate-controlled environment. While in the office, there is no regular exposure to loud noise, hazardous materials, or heavy machinery.
This role also requires periodic travel to project sites, including locations undergoing renovation or active construction. During site visits, the employee may be exposed to non-temperature-controlled environments, construction noise, dust, and other typical conditions found on job sites. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required during these visits, depending on site conditions. While on site visits, an individual in this role will be required to work atypical hours at the request of the client or role demands.

Physical Demands
This is not a sedentary role. This role requires the ability to be on your feet moving around a construction site for most of the day interacting with contractors, contractor representatives, and inspecting the construction work that is being performed.

Walking: This role requires the ability to move about outside in various geographic and building terrains to access a construction site to provide quality assurance services.

Stooping/Kneeling/Crouching/Crawling: This role requires stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and ladder climbing to inspect all aspects of building construction to foundations, crawlspaces, and roofs.

Using Hands/Fingers: This role constantly operates technological office equipment such as laptop, mouse, keyboard, computer monitors, telephones, and scanners, copiers, and fax machines.

Talking/Hearing: This role requires constant communication with others in the organization to exchange information, review information, and make decisions about information.

Seeing: This role requires the ability to see, view, and distinguish all aspects of construction to ensure quality control.

Carrying/Lifting: This role requires lifting up to 30 lbs to transport technological office equipment, safety equipment, and other needed construction items to and from various workspaces.

Home Office Connectivity Requirements For Hybrid & Remote Positions
To ensure reliable collaboration, client service, and secure access to company systems, the Company requires minimum connectivity standards to be eligible or remain eligible to work in a hybrid or remote capacity. Employees working remotely must maintain broadband internet service capable of consistently supporting video conferencing, VPN connectivity, and cloud-based applications. Hybrid or remote work eligibility may be reassessed if connectivity standards are not met. This includes:

  • Wired broadband service (cable, fiber, or DSL) with at least minimum 100 Mbps download / 20 Mbps upload
  • Some positions may require minimum 200-300 Mbps download / 25-35 Mbps upload speed
Cellular hotspot or fixed wireless cellular services (e.g., T-Mobile Home Internet) may not be used as a primary connection.
