Job summary

The City of Chicago Department of Law seeks an Assistant Disability Officer to assist in administering the Reasonable Accommodation Program. You will process requests, review accommodations, and interact with employees, medical providers, and management to determine appropriate actions.

This role supports an ADA framework and confidentiality protocols within a public sector setting. The position emphasizes collaboration with HR, legal compliance, and continuous program improvements, while

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in human resources management, organizational development or a directly related field.
Experience in equal employment opportunity or employee relations involving disability processes.
ABA-law degree with professional work experience in employment relations is also acceptable.

Responsibilities

Guides and supports Associate Disability Officers and HR Generalists.
Resolves complex accommodation issues and communicates resolutions to the team.
Coordinates with departments and City offices on issue resolution and collaboration.
Oversees accommodation-related procurement and employee reassignment processes.
Supports pregnancy and pumping related accommodations and related logistics.
Develops and supports the Disability Liaison program.
Manages reasonable accommodation training.
Assists in improving Disability Office operations and onboarding new staff.
Conducts research and special projects related to accommodations.
Manages reasonable accommodation requests and related documentation.
