Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling in Circleville, OH is seeking a Residential Rear Load Driver (Non-CDL) to service customers with waste and recycling collection. You will operate various trucks on multiple routes, perform pre/post-trip inspections, and maintain logs while delivering excellent customer service.

Candidate should be able to read maps, manage frequent truck entry/exit, and possess general truck knowledge along with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read and speak English well enough to communicate and understand safety training.
• Able to enter/exit the truck 300–500 times per day.
• General knowledge of truck mechanics.
• Good written and verbal communication with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Provide trash or recycling removal services to customers, safely and efficiently.
• Routinely enter/exit the truck 300–500 times per day on assigned routes.
• May need to pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings.
• Replace trash/recycling receptacles neatly at curbs or designated areas.
• Clean up waste spills and overflows.
• Maintain and update route and driver logs.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete logs.
• Interact professionally with customers and colleagues.
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body; ensure cab cleanliness.
• Deliver trash or recycling containers as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Residential Rear Load Drivers (Non-CDL) are responsible for servicing customers with the collection and hauling of waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. This position operates various types of trucks. Drivers will service many different routes in various areas.

Responsibilities of Position:

• Provide trash or recycling removal services to customers, in a safe and compliant way, by emptying trash/recycling containers into truck and hauling to disposal site
• Routinely enter/exit the truck approximately 300-500 times per day, depending on the assigned route
• May be required to pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings
• Replace trash/recycling receptacles neatly at the curb or designated area
• Clean up waste spills and overflows
• Maintain and update route & driver log sheets
• Conduct pre-trip/post trip inspections and complete logs
• Professionally interact with internal and external customers, providing excellent customer service
• Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body and ensure cleanliness of truck cab
• Deliver trash or recycling containers as needed
• Perform other duties as assigned

Supervisory Responsibility:

• This position will not manage employees

Skills & Abilities Needed for Position:

• Ability to read and understand a map
• Ability to enter/exit the truck approximately 300-500 times per day
• General knowledge of truck mechanics
• Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers
• Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training

Experience & Knowledge Needed for Position:

Physical Requirements in a Regular Workday:

• Frequentlylifting/carrying a max of 75 lbs
• Continuously pushing/pulling a max of 75 lbsContinuously working outside in changing temperatures, wet/humid conditions
• Continuously working in areas of dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter
• Frequently stooping/kneeling/crouching/crawling
• Frequently climbing and/or balancing
• Frequently sitting/standing/walking

Additional Working Conditions/Aspects:

• Must have a valid DOT Medical Card or able to obtain prior to hire
• Must be at least 19 years of age
• No more than 3 moving violations within the last 2 years
• Must not have any DUI's or OVI's within the last 5 years or 2 in the last 10 years
• Possible exposure to high traffic conditions and/or tight driving areas
• Exposure to residential and commercial waste
• Ability to travel between offices, as required
• Ability to workflexible hours; expected to work nights and weekends as needed
• Ability to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays
• Legally eligible to work in the United States
• Valid driver’s license (if applicable)
• Must successfully complete pre-employment testing
• Must be able to read and speak the English language
