Job summary

First American's Agency Division is seeking a Title Examiner to support policy-issuing agents by examining real property records and preparing title commitments. This role works independently to determine status of titles, abstracts records such as mortgages and liens, and verify legal descriptions.

The position offers remote work with pay range $23.37-$31.15 per hour and a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401k, PTO and stock purchase plan.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Detail / quality orientation.
• Customer service orientation.
• Knowledge of legal terms is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Examine title to determine status and establish chain of title.
• Abstract and analyze records (mortgages, liens, judgments, etc.) to verify ownership and restrictions.
• Prepare initial title commitment documentation per guidelines.

Search public records and examine titles to determine legal condition of property title, primarily for residential properties. Copy or summarize recorded documents, which affect the condition of title to the property. These roles may be found in production center or branch office environments. In some cases, the Title Examiner role gathers information and creates a commitment of title before passing along to a Title Officer.

Works independently and uses experience to examine title to real property, ranging in complexity, to determine status and establish chain of title. Abstracts and analyzes records, such as mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, vital statistics, and plat and map books, to determine ownership and legal restrictions and to verify legal description of property and completeness of records

Prepares initial title commitment documentation based on the application of procedural guidelines

Pay Range: $23.37 - $31.15 Hourly, RemoteThis hiring range is a reasonable estimate of the base pay range for this position at the time of posting.
