Job summary

OP Recruiting is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to architect, automate, and elevate our real-time trading ecosystem. You will partner with quantitative researchers and core engineering teams in a fast-paced, high-concurrency environment.

The role emphasizes infrastructure automation, data pipelines, monitoring, and enterprise-grade security across hybrid cloud setups. Chicago-based, on-site collaboration is expected.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Site Reliability Engineering, Systems Admin, DevOps, or Network Eng.
• Proficient in Python and Unix shell scripting; Git version control.
• Experience with IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, Puppet).
• Practical knowledge of containerization (Kubernetes) in hybrid/public cloud environments.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins).
• Strong TCP/IP networking knowledge (DNS, routing, VPNs) and storage (NFS, block, object).
• Excellent collaboration and technical documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Infrastructure automation to maximize reliability across mission-critical environments.
• Build and maintain data ingestion pipelines and HPC compute workflows.
• Design monitoring, alerting, and reporting for system health and networks.
• Develop and integrate RESTful APIs across multi-cloud and on-prem data systems.
• Oversee SQL/NoSQL databases and automate network workflows.
• Serve as Tier-2 escalation for rapid incident diagnosis and resolution.
• Uphold security standards and enterprise-grade operational practices.
