Job summary

Amazon Optics is seeking a Software Development Engineer to build intelligent systems that secure AWS sites using computer vision and applied machine learning, enabling real-time production decisions across global locations.

You will partner with Applied Scientists to deploy models end-to-end, from training infrastructure to real-time serving and monitoring, designing low-latency, scalable systems and contributing to a culture of innovation.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non‑internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of design or architecture experience on large-scale systems.
• 3+ years SDLC experience including coding standards, reviews, and operations.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy ML models that automate real‑time security decisions across AWS regions.
• Partner with Applied Scientists to operationalize research models into production pipelines.
• Own the full ML model lifecycle: training infrastructure, real‑time serving, monitoring, retraining.
• Design low‑latency, high‑reliability distributed systems for model serving at scale.
• Build computer vision pipelines that process video and image data for threat detection.
• Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for ML and application infra.
• Monitor model performance in production and drive continuous improvement.
• Contribute to system design and architecture decisions balancing innovation with reliability.
• Participate in code reviews and provide mentorship to peers.
• Collaborate cross‑functionally with security operations, hardware, and product teams.
