Job summary

CPS Inc. is hiring a Java Trading Systems Developer in Chicago to build and enhance high-performance trading applications for front-office trading and execution.

You will work closely with traders, quantitative researchers, and engineers to deliver reliable, scalable real-time systems used across financial markets. The role emphasizes concurrent Java programming, low-latency design, and integration with exchanges and market-data feeds.

Qualifications

• Strong Java development skills
• Deep understanding of multithreading, concurrency, data structures, and JVM
• Experience with distributed, real-time, or high-throughput systems
• Strong Linux development and troubleshooting skills
• Familiarity with messaging, networking, TCP/UDP; FIX knowledge is a plus
• Experience with equities, futures, options, fixed income, FX or similar markets
• Previous experience in proprietary trading, hedge funds, investment banking, exchanges, or fintech is highly desirable

Responsibilities

• Design and develop high-performance trading systems and services using Java
• Build real-time, event-driven applications for order management, execution, and market data
• Develop concurrent and scalable systems with focus on performance and reliability
• Integrate with exchanges, brokers, market-data providers, and trading venues
• Analyze latency, throughput, memory usage, and overall system performance
• Collaborate with traders and quantitative teams to deliver production solutions
• Troubleshoot production issues across trading apps and infrastructure
• Participate in system design, code reviews, testing, deployment, and ongoing improvements
