Job summary

Cisco is seeking a hands-on Software Engineer to join a high-impact data engineering team focused on building data products using state-of-the-art big data technologies. The role emphasizes developing and operating pipelines, with a strong bias toward scalable, distributed systems.

You will work with Java/Scala/Golang, Kafka, Spark, Flink, and modern cloud tooling to deliver end-to-end data solutions that empower Webex engineering and business insights.

Qualifications

• 4–8 years of experience building enterprise-grade applications.
• Experience with large, asynchronous, distributed systems and microservices.
• Strong programming skills in Java, Scala, or Go.
• Experience with Kafka and high-volume data processing.
• Solid SQL skills and data modeling for analytics.
• Familiarity with AI tooling for design/testing (e.g., Copilot).

Responsibilities

• Build and operate Kafka-based streaming applications for ingestion, filtering, and enrichment.
• Develop data processing jobs with Spark and Flink following platform guidelines.
• Design and implement scalable, end-to-end distributed systems.
• Share solutions and ideas through design reviews, proofs-of-concept, and demos.
• Collaborate with cross-technology teams to align product requirements with implementation.
• Contribute to development strategy and code that reflects product functionality.
