Qualifications

  • 5-8 years of relevant financial services experience, ideally starting in public accounting (Big 4) and moving to private equity or real estate investment management.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance; CPA license highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with industry-standard accounting systems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, clear for non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Proactive, independent, deadline-driven with strong data integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate with third-party administrators for NAV estimates, quarterly financials, and investor reporting per US GAAP.
  • Compute and review management fees, expense allocations, and GP promote distributions.
  • Review audited statements, footnotes, and schedules; primary contact for fund year-end audits.
  • Advise on technical accounting matters with auditors and tax advisors on complex transactions.
  • Approve capital calls and distributions; ensure compliance with the LPA and waterfalls.
  • Support Investor Relations with bespoke reporting requests and high-level financial data.
  • Coordinate with tax, legal, valuation, and operations teams to support closings and regulatory filings.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to scale accounting and reporting functions.

Description of Position

TPG Real Estate Finance is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Fund Controller to join our team. This pivotal role is responsible for the oversight of accounting, operational, and financial reporting functions for our Real Estate Finance vehicles. The successful candidate will act as a key liaison between internal teams and external partners, ensuring excellence in financial accuracy and compliance within a fast-paced, institutional environment.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate with third-party administrators in the preparation and review of monthly NAV estimates, quarterly financial statements, and investor reporting, ensuring strict adherence to US GAAP and TPG standards.
  • Perform and review complex calculations including management fees, expense allocations, and General Partner promote/carried interest distributions.
  • Review quarterly and annual audited financial statements, including footnote disclosures and supplemental schedules; serve as the primary point of contact for fund year-end audits.
  • Act as a subject matter expert on technical accounting matters, consulting with external auditors and tax advisors on complex transactions and evolving regulatory issues.
  • Review and approve capital call and distribution calculations, ensuring all notices and summaries are in strict compliance with the Fundb s Limited Partnership Agreement (LPA) and distribution waterfalls.
  • Partner with the Investor Relations team to fulfill bespoke reporting requests and provide high-level financial data for investor inquiries.
  • Coordinate extensively with TPGb s internal tax, legal, valuation, and operational teams to support deal closings, valuation committees, and regulatory compliance filings.
  • Identify and implement process enhancements to improve the scale and efficiency of the accounting and reporting functions.

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of relevant financial services experience, ideally beginning in public accounting (Big 4 preferred) followed by a role within private equity or real estate investment management.
  • Bachelorb s degree in accounting or finance; CPA license is highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with industry-standard accounting systems (e.g., Yardi, Investran, or MRI).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to distill complex financial information for non-accounting stakeholders.
  • A proactive, no-task-too-small attitude with the ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Unwavering attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of data integrity.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented and operationally rigorous, with a strong instinct for data integrity and process discipline. They are intellectually curious about lending mechanics and asset performance, comfortable owning multiple workstreams simultaneously, and able to communicate findings clearly to deal team members and senior management. It is expected that the annual base salary for this role will range from $135,000 – $165,000. Base salary is one component of TPG’s competitive total rewards package which typically includes discretionary compensation, comprehensive health benefits, and paid time off. Other incentives may also be available to certain eligible employees.
