Job summary

McGuireWoods in New York seeks a Counsel to join its Real Estate Finance Practice Area within the Public & Private Infrastructure & Real Estate Department. The team handles sophisticated real estate transactions and financing for lenders and developers, with a focus on affordable housing and workouts.

Qualified candidates have 8+ years of experience representing secured lenders (including balance sheet, bridge, CMBS/conduit) and must be admitted to the NY Bar.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of commercial real estate finance experience representing secured lenders (balance sheet, bridge, CMBS/conduit).
• Experience with multifamily agency programs (Fannie Mae / Freddie Mac).
• Experience in affordable housing and/or workouts.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a team-focused approach and client confidence.
• Excellent writing and oral communication skills; NY Bar admission required.

Responsibilities

• Counsel clients on sophisticated real estate finance transactions for lenders and sponsors.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams within the Real Estate Finance Practice.
• Advise on affordable housing dealings and workout scenarios when needed.

Salary: $350,000-$450,000

• Qualified candidates will have 8+ years commercial real estate finance experience representing secured lenders including balance sheet, bridge, CMBS/conduit lenders in sophisticated law firm setting.
• Additional experience with multifamily agency (Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac) various balance sheet platforms is preferred.
• Experience in affordable housing and/or workouts will create additional opportunities to excel.
• Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, be a “team player,” notably a proven history of inspiring client confidence while dealing with both business, and legal teams.
• Must have a strong academic record, excellent writing, and oral communication skills.
• NYBar is required.
