Job summary

Build is seeking a data engineer or data scientist in New York to consolidate site data into a single trusted record for every site and asset. You will ingest, clean and link diverse sources, perform entity resolution, and create AI-ready insights for our geospatial workflows.

You will collaborate with our geospatial team to decide sources, connect data, and surface answers our AI and clients can act on. We value technical curiosity about how the built world gets valued and built, and offer

About the role

A database gives you information. Build should tell you what it means and what to do next.

Every site Build validates - power capacity, energisation date, zoning, title, comparables - depends on pulling together data that lives in hundreds of fragmented sources: parcel and title records, planning and zoning portals, grid and utility data, transaction comps, geospatial layers. This role owns turning that mess into a single, trusted picture of every site and asset, and building the intelligence that sits on top of it.

You'll work alongside our geospatial team and our domain experts to decide which sources matter, connect and cross-reference them, catch inconsistencies and hidden assumptions, and turn the result into answers our AI and our clients can act on.

What you will own

• The real estate data layer: ingesting, cleaning, linking and cross-referencing property, land, power, planning and market data sources into one record per site and asset

• Entity resolution and data quality: matching parcels, owners, titles and addresses across sources, and flagging conflicts and gaps before they reach a decision

• The intelligence on top: comps selection, valuation and NOI inputs, distress and pricing-gap signals, and risk and red-flag detection that our AI workflows and experts use

• New sources: finding, evaluating and onboarding the data that makes Build's site validation faster and more accurate than anyone else's

• The speed, reliability and coverage of all of the above as Build expands into new markets

Who this might be

• A data engineer or data scientist at a real estate data company who has stitched together property records at scale

• An engineer on a research, analytics or data team at a brokerage, investor or advisory firm who wants to build rather than report

• A geospatial or ML engineer who has built valuation or site selection models on messy real-world data

• Typically a CS, data engineering or similarly technical background, with a few years of experience and a real curiosity about how the built world gets valued and built
