Job summary

Mcjcohio is looking for an educational professional to provide personalized reading instruction to detained youth at the Montgomery County Common Pleas Court – Juvenile Division in Dayton, Ohio. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in education and teaching certification, along with experience working in special education. Responsibilities include developing individualized reading plans, conducting assessments, and maintaining communication with classroom staff to support student learning. This is a critical role aimed at positively impacting the lives of young people in the juvenile justice system.

Qualifications

• Possession of teaching certificate or licensure in English, reading or elementary education.
• Three years prior experience working with students in a special education setting preferred.
• Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three days of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement individualized reading plans for students.
• Provide one-on-one or small group reading instruction.
• Maintain intervention logs and evaluation records for students.
• Assess students’ progress and adjust strategies as needed.
• Communicate progress to classroom teachers and Building Coordinator.
