Job summary

Prelude Prep in San Antonio is seeking a passionate Reading Interventionist to support students facing reading challenges and help them achieve academic growth. This role involves providing individualized and small-group instruction to students, collaborating with classroom teachers, and communicating progress effectively with families.

The ideal candidate should have a strong understanding of foundational literacy skills and be committed to fostering a love of reading among students. At Prelude Prep, we believe in supporting our teachers for their success and professional growth.

Qualifications

  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Experience with reading intervention is preferred.

Prelude Prep is a tuition-free public charter school serving students in Pre‑K through 8th grade in San Antonio.

What You'll Do

As a Reading Interventionist, you will provide targeted support to students who need additional reading instruction. You will work closely with classroom teachers and families to help students build foundational literacy skills and close learning gaps.

  • Deliver small‑group and individualized reading intervention
  • Provide systematic instruction in foundational literacy skills, including phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension
  • Monitor student progress and use data to adjust instruction
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support student growth
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress
  • Maintain accurate records of student intervention services and progress monitoring
  • Participate actively in coaching, planning, and professional development
  • Contribute positively to the culture and mission of the school

Qualifications
Required
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check
  • Eligibility to work in the United States
Preferred
  • Experience teaching reading, literacy intervention, tutoring, or elementary education
  • Experience working with struggling readers
  • Knowledge of foundational literacy instruction and the science of reading
  • Experience using student data to drive instruction
  • Dyslexia training or certification is a plus but not required
