Job summary

The Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX) is seeking an Apprenticeship Coach to deliver Level 3 and Level 6 apprenticeship programmes through online 1:1 coaching and group sessions. You will manage a caseload from onboarding to completion, provide feedback, and collaborate within a supportive team to develop highly capable apprentices in the legal environment.

Responsibilities

• Coaching and mentoring learners to enable successful programme completion.

• Support assessment preparation including interview and portfolio work.
• Identify learners needing extra support and implement interventions.
• Provide feedback on the learner experience and support QA improvements.
• Ensure quality assurance processes meet internal and external standards.

Apprenticeship Coach

Company: Chartered Institute of Legal Executives (CILEX)

Remote Working with occasional in-person meetings

Full time - 35 hours per week | Salary -£35,700 per annum | Immediate start

Introduction

We are seeking an engaging and passionate legal professional with practical experience and a strong commitment to developing the next generation of CILEX legal specialists through our Level 3 and Level 6 apprenticeship programmes.

As an Apprenticeship Coach, you will use your specialist knowledge to deliver legal skills, legal environment and professional development sessions, primarily through online 1:1 coaching, alongside some online group delivery. You will support learners in applying their knowledge effectively in the workplace, helping them build confidence and competence in real-world contexts.

You will take ownership of a caseload of learners, managing their journey from onboarding and induction through to completion. This will include conducting skills assessments, creating and maintaining personalised development plans, and assessing formative work while providing detailed, constructive feedback on strengths and areas for development. You must also be able to work collaboratively as part of a supportive team.

The role

• Coaching and mentoring support, advising learners to enable successful completion of their programme
• Monitoring learner engagement and raising any concerns in line with policies
• Progress reviews with learners and their supervisors and setting development objectives
• Supporting learners in their preparation for assessments, including interview and portfolio preparation
• Identifying learners who require additional support and implementing suitable interventions
• Providing feedback on the learner experience and contributing to the CILEX Law School quality improvement plan
• Ensuring quality assurance processes are met to internal and external standards

Essential

• CILEX graduate/law degree or equivalent
• Practice experience
• Demonstratable commitment to the welfare of learners

Desirable

• A recognised teaching or coaching qualification
• Experience of training or developing others in the skills of sustainability in the legal environment and/or data and technology in the legal environment
• Knowledge and understanding of competence qualifications and apprenticeships
• Experience of training or developing others in the following skills
• Legal Drafting / effective legal writing
• Client Care and Professional Standards
• Communication (written and oral) and advocacy
• Finance / costing / billing in the legal environment
• Commercial awareness
