  • Good written and IT skills.

  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people, ensuring their needs remain at the centre of all decisions.
  • Provide high-quality, person-centred care and support in accordance with individual care plans.
  • Supervise, mentor and support Residential Support Workers, contributing to inductions, supervisions and ongoing development.
  • Promote positive behaviour support and role-model professional practice.
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, key working and reviews to achieve positive outcomes for children and young people.
  • Build effective relationships with families, social workers, education providers and other professionals.
  • Ensure accurate record keeping, reporting and completion of required documentation and audits.
  • Support medication management, health and safety compliance and the maintenance of a safe, clean and welcoming home environment.
  • Assist the Registered Manager and provide leadership in the absence of the Deputy Manager, as required.
  • Participate in training, supervision, team meetings and on-call duties where applicable.
  • Carry out all duties in accordance with safeguarding requirements, relevant legislation and organisational policies.

Role Purpose

To support the Registered Manager in delivering high-quality, child-centred residential care for children and young people. The Senior Residential Support Worker will lead shifts, supervise and support the staff team, and ensure the home provides a safe, nurturing and therapeutic environment that promotes positive outcomes. The role combines hands-on care with leadership responsibilities, ensuring compliance with safeguarding, Children's Homes Regulations and organisational policies.

  • Good problem-solving skills.
