Job summary

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Provides engineering technical assistance to Ride/Show teams in support of scenic scopes of work.

• Edits/updates Ride/Show engineering specifications for scenic system delivery.
• Assists vendor management through bidding, designing, manufacturing, testing, shipping, installation, start-up, commissioning of show equipment.
• Reviews/develops test protocols, procedures, and plans.
• Executes witness or approves testing and results as assigned by Engineering & Safety management.
• Participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities per policy and training.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

For Universal United Kingdom Resort (UUKR), this position contributes to technical management, inclusive of budget and schedule, for an attraction or attractions under an area of responsibility. Responsible for supporting the successful specification, bid/award, design, production, installation, and acceptance testing of Ride and/or Show systems, to include Set/Scenic, or Props.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provides engineering technical (calculation, design, drafting, research) assistance to the Ride/Show teams in support of scenic scopes of work.
• Reviews portions of vendor-provided design review documents, including drawing review, component selection review, calculation review, test plan review, test results review, or review of other deliverable items as specified by engineering management.
• Edits and updates Ride/Show engineering specifications as specifically assigned by Ride/Show engineering management in support of scenic system delivery.
• Assists Ride/Show team in managing vendors through the process of bidding, designing, manufacturing, testing, shipping, installation, start up, and commissioning of show action equipment.
• Reviews, edits, or develops test protocols, procedures, and plans.
• Executes witness or approve testing and test results as assigned and authorised by Engineering & Safety management.
• Understand and actively participate in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UDXpolicy, procedures, training, and team member involvement activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in applicable technical field required (examples include, but are not limited to, Technical Theatre, Architecture, Set/Scenic Design, Building Construction) or equivalent demonstrated skill and experience; Advanced Degree preferred. Experience in direct theme park specific technical/engineering roles supporting scenic elements required (examples include, but are not limited to, rockwork, scenic facades, scenic attractions other visual scenics, artificial foliage, and themed concrete plaster) or similar experience in related technical field. Project experience within the entertainment/theme park industry preferred. Any experience in theme park development, construction show and ride systems design or fabrication is preferred. A successful candidate should be able to perform the following to include, but not be limited to: Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
