Job Title

Reactor Operator

Production Crew Leader (Reports to Production Manager and Operation Manager)

General Purpose

The position is responsible to the Crew Leader for the timely manufacturing of resin batches to specified requirements. The Reactor Operator works with others to produce a quality product in a safe manner.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Complies with all rules, policies and procedures.
  • Assist in making spreads, pulling/pushing buns.
  • Conducts and logs daily inspections of work areas and equipment.
  • Performs minor maintenance.
  • Assists in cleanup of plant during downtime.
  • Be familiar with Solimide Foams’ Loss Control Policies.
  • Complete Reactor Operator Task list and Daily Checklist.
  • Complete forklift inspection and operate safely.
  • Run assorted quality tests in lab.
  • Make resin batches.
  • Move raw materials from the warehouse to the production area.
  • Load, unload and move hazardous and non-hazardous waste and raw materials.
  • Compact scrap foam.
  • Write work orders.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Crew Leader.
  • Maintain regular attendance.
  • Work in extreme and varying temperature and weather conditions.
  • Participate in the Site 5S program.
  • Attend all required safety meetings.
Strategic Focus

The Reactor Operator is expected to complete batches in a timely and safe manner and follow batch procedures to assure product quality.

Qualifications
  • High School education or equivalent.
  • WAGE Certificate preferred for employees hired on or after January 1, 2004.
  • One-year experience in a production environment and understanding of plant operations.
  • Ability to operate a computer and Windows-based systems.
  • Relates and interacts well with people at all levels.
  • Physical stamina: walking, standing, using hands and reaching for up to 12 hours per day; pull, push and lift weights up to 100 lbs.
  • Manual dexterity, body flexibility; normal vision and hearing.
  • Operate basic factory & maintenance equipment and a forklift.
  • Use all required PPE.
  • Attention to detail and good communication skills.

Physical Requirements

Essential functions include walking, standing, lifting (up to 100 lbs), operating equipment, and maintaining situational awareness in a fluctuating environment.
