Job summary

Los Angeles County Office of Education is seeking a Nutrition & Wellness Specialist (Temporary) to support school districts in implementing WSCC-based health policies and practices across Los Angeles County.

The ideal candidate will hold a Registered Dietitian credential or CHES preference, with strong knowledge of nutrition, school health, and program evaluation. This temporary six-month assignment emphasizes collaboration, training, and technical assistance to LEAs.

Qualifications

• Education: a bachelor’s degree in nutrition science, dietetics, health education, human development, or other fields closely related to the job requirements.
• Experience: Two years of experience implementing nutrition, health, or wellness strategies, intervention, and programs in a pre-k through 12th grade school setting.
• Additional Requirements: Certification as a Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) or Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical assistance, training, and support to Local Education Agencies (LEAs) and schools.
• Help develop, expand, implement, and evaluate health and wellness policies and practices using the WSCC model.
• Collaborate with districts to implement and evaluate school health initiatives.
