Performs with latitude for independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative, ultrasound and/or vascular exams of designated anatomy to physician specifications and established protocols. May participate in call rotations, as necessary.
Assists in non-routine specialized exams, such as vascular studies and procedures utilizing advanced imaging equipment and techniques. Performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures on various vascular systems of the body for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. Ensures quality control and quality improvement activities according to guidelines and federal and state regulations. Maintains current level of expertise in topics related to ultrasound and participates in the appropriate level of continuing education required. Coordinates in establishing proper parameters and protocols for imaging equipment in conjunction with radiologists. Assists in revising and reviewing current protocols to ensure the highest quality of diagnostic tests. Ensures that appropriate consents are present and signed before taking patient from waiting room. Produces diagnostic images and processes and prepares images for interpretation by the radiologist.
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.
