Job summary

Parker Hannifin is seeking an R&D Engineering Intern for Spring through Summer 2027 in Mentor, OH. You will support electronics, data acquisition, hydraulics, and testing while collaborating with experienced engineers to enhance lab capabilities for aerospace testing projects.

You will operate fabrication and calibration equipment, upgrade hydraulic test stands, and wire/sense sensors. Travel to Parker facilities and universities may be required; U.S. Person only, sponsorship not offered.

Qualifications

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering, with at least two years of academic coursework completed. Graduate students are also encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the R&D Lab team and take direction from senior engineers on active projects.
• Operate fabrication equipment (tube bender, drill press, milling machine) and calibration equipment (viscometer, densometer).
• Assist in upgrading hydraulic test stands, including control valves, pumps, and automation systems.
• Wire, calibrate, and troubleshoot sensors for aerospace testing.
• Lead calibration efforts for lab and production test stands.
• Present project plans, data, and results to the team with detailed reports.
• Support other engineers with projects as needed.
• Maintain a safe working environment adhering to a zero-incident culture.

Job Overview:

Join the Parker Gas Turbine Fuel Systems Division as an R&D Engineering Intern for Spring through Summer 2027. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide support in electronics, data acquisition, hydraulics, and testing in our Mentor, OH location. You will work closely with experienced engineers to enhance lab capabilities and contribute to innovative aerospace testing projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the R&D Lab team, taking direction from senior engineers on active projects.
• Operate fabrication equipment (e.g., tube bender, drill press, milling machine) and calibration equipment (e.g., viscometer, densometer).
• Assist in upgrading hydraulic test stands, including control valves, pumps, and automation systems.
• Wire, calibrate, and troubleshoot mechanical, fluid, and thermal sensors for aerospace testing.
• Lead calibration efforts for individual lab and production test stands.
• Participate in a High-Performance Team environment, contributing to all functions as required.
• Present project plans, data, and results to the team, generating detailed reports.
• Support other engineers with projects and tasks as needed.
• Maintain a safe working environment, adhering to a zero-incident culture.

Qualifications:

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in mechanical, aerospace, or electrical engineering, engineering technology, or a closely related field, with at least two years of academic coursework completed. Graduate students are also encouraged to apply.
• Excellent hands-on skills, including experience with fabrication and soldering/wiring.
• Strong communication skills for presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences, along with accurate scientific documentation abilities.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to Parker facilities, local universities, and suppliers.
• Must be a U.S. Person, no sponsorship offered.
