Job description
RCIS Crop Claims Specialist (West or Central MN)

Zurich is seeking an experienced Crop Claims Specialist to join our Rural Community Insurance Services (RCIS) team. This position will work virtually from home in Minnesota, serving counties including Norman, Becker, Mahnomen, Clay, Otter Tail, Wilkin, Traverse, Todd, Grant, Douglas, Big Stone, Stevens, or Pope. Under moderate direction, the specialist will investigate, evaluate and conclude complex field inspections by following applicable regulatory and company rules and procedures to ensure that claims are handled effectively and provide customer-centric service.

They will provide support to Area Claims Managers in the facilitation of general day-to-day operations and claims management. Selected candidates will also support lower-level adjusting staff by completing and/or providing training and assistance with complex claims.

Additional responsibilities:

  • Exercise judgement to determine liability by gathering and analyzing relevant facts, and applying applicable procedures.
  • Exercise judgement to determine policy verification and coverage by analyzing applicable coverage for claims and determining whether the loss falls within the coverage.
  • Participate in Risk Management Agency initiated reviews and referrals to support operations integrity and quality assurance.
  • Protect Zurich’s reputation by keeping claims information confidential.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by engaging in educational opportunities, staying current with industry trends, networking, and participating in professional societies.

Crop Claims Specialist Basic Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 or more years of experience in the agricultural or crop insurance industry
  • Crop Adjuster Proficiency Program (CAPP) must be obtained within 180 days of hire date
  • Personal transportation and travel within the assigned territory and beyond as needed to assist with workload, participate on CAT teams, or provide remote assistance for the Crop Claims Care Center calls and/or CCP Claims
  • RCIS Crop Adjuster physical requirements: walk in agricultural fields up to 3 miles, climb agricultural storage bins up to 25 feet, lift 25–50 lbs, work outdoors in varying temperatures/weather conditions

Salary ranges are nationwide and may be adjusted for geographic differentials. The proposed salary range for this position is $48,600.00 - $79,500.00, with a short-term incentive bonus eligibility of 10%.
