Job summary

Helen Keller Services for the Blind is seeking a Full-Time Assistant Teacher for our Brooklyn Children’s Learning Center. The role supports the classroom teacher and works with groups and 1:1 instruction under IEP directives.

The position requires NYS Level I Assistant Teacher certification, ABA experience, and a background in preschool settings. HKS offers a comprehensive benefits package and a strong work-life balance.

Qualifications

• Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)
• Experience in a preschool setting preferred
• Experience with children with disabilities a plus

Responsibilities

• Provides instruction to students as directed by the teacher and guided by IEP goals.
• Maintains a safe and healthy environment in the classroom and on field trips.
• Supports individual students during group instruction as needed.
• Assists students with self-care activities and responds to communication.
• Maintains a positive attitude and encourages interaction among children.
• Attends to a child’s communication and responds appropriately.
• Assists with collecting student data and IEP goals.
• Maintains classroom supplies and prepares teaching materials.
• Maintains documentation concerning students and classroom activities.
