Job summary

GAF in Newton, Kansas is seeking a Supply Chain Associate II to move finished goods and raw materials in a high-volume manufacturing setting. You will manage loading/unloading on trucks and rail cars with strict FIFO discipline and meticulous documentation.

Responsibilities include operating forklifts, using WMS/RF scanners, and coordinating with carriers to ensure proper weight distribution and on-time deliveries. A strong safety mindset is essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate industrial equipment to move raw materials or finished goods to appropriate locations.
  • Safely unload raw materials and load finished goods from/to trucks and rail cars.
  • Verify inbound/outbound paperwork (BOLs, packing slips) and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain FIFO inventory and perform cycle counts; investigate variances.
  • Utilize WMS and RF scanners for real-time transactions and data integrity.

You will wear many hats during the construction and commissioning phases of the project, and ease into your steady role over time.Job SummaryThe Supply Chain Associate II serves as an experienced operational core of the Supply Chain team, responsible for the efficient and independent movement of finished goods and/or raw materials within a high-volume manufacturing environment. Having transitioned from foundational training to full operational proficiency, the Associate demonstrates the capability to independently manage complex truck and rail loading and unloading sequences with minimal oversight. This role is defined by a high degree of technical accuracy, requiring the Associate to maintain inventory integrity through the proactive application of FIFO principles and meticulous documentation. Success relies on advanced spatial awareness for safe equipment operation, a thorough understanding of rail safety and weight distribution protocols, and the ability to troubleshoot common Supply Chain hurdles to keep production lines running without interruption.Essential DutiesChampion a safe and clean work environment, embedding safety as the highest priority within our culture.Participate in safety, continuous improvement, and 5S initiatives.Maintain compliance with safety policies and procedures, conduct inspections of plant areas and/or equipment, and ensure deficiencies found are resolved or appropriately communicated.Safely operate industrial equipment to efficiently move raw materials, and/or finished goods to appropriate plant locationSafely unload raw materials and load finished goods from/to commercial trucks and/or rail carsIndependently execute the loading and/or unloading of raw materials and finished goods from commercial trucks and railcars. Ensure optimal weight distribution and load security without direct supervision.Demonstrate mastery of all industrial material handling equipment (forklifts, trackmobile,, etc.) to move materials between storage, production lines, and shipping docks with high precisionPerform advanced verification of inbound and outbound manifests, including Bills of Lading (BOL) and packing slips. Identify and resolve discrepancies in SKU, lot numbers, or quantities before they impact production.Maintain strict adherence to First-In-First-Out (FIFO) principles for both raw materials and finished goods. Perform regular cycle counts and investigate inventory variances as they arise.Efficiently utilize Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and RF scanners to perform real-time transactions, ensuring data integrity across the supply chain.Identify and resolve immediate operational bottlenecks, such as equipment malfunctions or dock congestion, to maintain the facility’s high-volume throughput.Perform other duties as assignedQualifications RequiredH.S.
