Qualifications

  • Knowledge of SPC, FMEA, DOE, Six-Sigma; JMP or Minitab proficiency.
  • Strong PM, multitasking and communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel 10–30% to supplier sites.

Responsibilities

  • Understand supplier processes and develop raw material FMEA with process improvements.
  • Drive supplier quality improvements including change management and SPC/SQC programs.
  • Support troubleshooting of material issues and root cause investigations.
  • Develop mitigation strategies including second sourcing opportunities.
  • Represent the company in communications with customers and suppliers.
  • Present results to technical teams and management.
  • Maintain accountability and report progress regularly.

Position Summary/Overview

Qnity has an exciting and challenging opportunity for a Raw Material Quality and Supplier Management (RQSM) Engineer job in Electronic Materials / Chemical Mechanical Planarization Technology (CMPT), located in Newark, DE.

This position is an on-site role located at one of CMPT's manufacturing sites. 10-30 % travel to raw material suppliers.

The RQSM Engineer works as part of a global team to develop strong relationships with our vendors to ensure that materials requirements are clearly understood. By using a variety of statistical methods, the RQSM Engineer evaluates materials and processes with an eye to reducing risk at our customer. If material quality upsets do occur, the RQSM Engineer is expected to work as a leading member of the troubleshooting and root cause identification team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and maintain quality requirements for raw materials for use in CMPT manufacturing
  • Establish and maintain critical process control parameters for raw material production in concert with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure new and existing raw material supply plans align with global strategy
  • Oversee and execute qualification planning, trial execution, final reports, and security of supply.
  • Manage and monitor supplier performance by interacting closely to ensure clear communication of Qnity's expectations, including regular audits, technical meetings, on-going improvement activities, performance feedback to supplier, training of semiconductor industry expectations and on-site visits.
  • Fully understand supplier’s manufacturing process, control methods, measurement and quality system for developing raw material FMEA. (Work with to improve process)
  • Drive the improvement of quality and performance of suppliers' quality systems including management of change and notification protocols, root cause investigation, documentation and reporting, SPC/SQC programs, calibration, and non-conforming material review systems.
  • Support trouble shooting of supplied material issues and facilitate Root Cause Investigations (RCI) related to supplied materials impact on final product performance and develop mitigation strategies to prevent excursions.
  • Develop material and supply mitigation strategies, including second source opportunities and alternate agreements with current suppliers.
  • Take ownership of tasks and projects, ensuring they are completed on time and to the highest standard.
  • Represent the company during interactions with customers and suppliers regarding raw material quality
  • Communicate results and progress to technical teams, management, and business leadership through written report and oral presentations
  • Demonstrate a high level of accountability for your work, regularly reporting progress and results to management.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science/Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years combined experience in manufacturing, Development/Scale-up, Quality or Continuous Improvement Engineering.
  • Experience in the semiconductor, specialty chemical or pharmaceutical industries
  • Experience working with customers or suppliers on projects such as raw material or product development, improvement projects, or problem resolution
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of quality management skills such as SPC, FMEA, DOE, Six-sigma and use of statistical software such as JMP and Minitab.
  • Demonstrated success resolving technical challenges in a time-critical situation
  • Strong project management skills and ability to execute complex projects and navigate multiple priorities.

  • Good oral and written communications skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working and managing projects in a global environment (both internal and external) with communications across cultures.
  • Experience with raw material supplier management
  • Lean and 6-sigma project certification
