Job summary

IKO Industries Ltd. is looking for a Raw Material Operator at our Chester location. This full-time position involves maintaining batch inventory and quality control for production operations. Ideal candidates will have three or more years of manufacturing experience and must work 12-hour rotating shifts.

Raw Material Operator

Location: IKO Glass Fiber Inc., Chester, SC   Department: Production   Type: Full Time (FT/PT/Cont)

Responsibilities
  • Exceptional attendance including working every day, on time, as scheduled.
  • Strong desire to work safely and help others also work safely. Take primary responsibility for their own safety. Follows all policies and procedures. Understands safety is a condition of employment.
  • Responsible for batch inventory, quality, and supply to furnace.
  • Maintains an active, responsible working presence in the batch/binder areas throughout shift operating hours.
  • Perform batch unloading, inspections and document inspections.
  • Clean batch house and binder area daily and maintain clean condition throughout the batch/binder work area.
  • Report batch area downtime or issues immediately to Furnace Engineer.
  • Report batch loss/scrap incidents to Furnace Engineer.
  • Unload and store received batch raw materials in proper silos.
  • Maintain Batch Raw Material inbound inspection and sampling.
  • Perform batch and raw material inventories.
  • Troubleshoot Batch and Binder system issues.
  • Provide assistance to Furnace Engineers, Quality Manager and Process Engineer.
  • Perform binder mix and binder area inspections and document inspections.
  • Clean binder mix and circulating tanks.
  • Report binder mix area downtime or issues immediately to Quality Manager and Process Engineer.
  • Maintain binder mix operating parameters.
  • Perform quality checks for solids, LOI and Moisture.
  • Report binder loss/scrap incidents to Quality Manager and Process Engineer.
  • Unload and store received binder raw materials in proper areas.
  • Maintain binder inbound inspection and sampling.
  • Perform binder raw material inventories.
  • Troubleshoot Sizing system issues.
  • Any and all other duties as assigned.
Ideal Candidate
  • Prior glass operations experience beneficial but not required.
  • Three or more years of manufacturing experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
  • Ability to provide simple and accurate instructions.
  • Ability to work at times in a high temperature environment.
  • Frequent lifting or moving materials up to 10 lbs.
  • Required to work 12 hour rotating shift schedule including working days and nights and rotating frequently.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, climb, reach, and grasp.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders and work from heights.
