Role Description

The Range Safety Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX. This position is responsible for monitoring the shooting range to ensure all safety rules and protocols are followed, providing clear direction and guidance to guests, and intervening promptly in unsafe situations. Day-to-day tasks include conducting safety briefings, inspecting lanes and equipment, enforcing range policies, and maintaining a clean, orderly, and secure environment. The Range Safety Officer will assist guests with safe handling and operation of firearms within established guidelines, observe and document incidents or near misses, and communicate effectively with the front desk and management regarding range status. The role also involves supporting training activities, conducting regular safety checks, and contributing to a positive, respectful customer experience.

Qualifications

• Strong Health & Safety and Occupational Health knowledge, with the ability to apply safety standards in a live range environment.
• Experience in Accident Investigation and incident reporting, including documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Background in Security and situational awareness, with the ability to respond calmly and effectively to potential risks.
• Ability to deliver Safety Training and clear safety briefings to guests and team members.
• Familiarity with firearms handling and range operations; prior range, military, or law enforcement experience is beneficial.
• Excellent observation skills, attention to detail, and consistent enforcement of rules and procedures.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a professional and respectful approach to diverse customers and colleagues.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, move between lanes, and perform light physical tasks as required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional safety or firearm certifications are an advantage.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to support range operations.
